Elizabeth Clare Prophet (April 8, 1939 – October 15, 2009) was an American spiritual teacher, author, and founder of the Church Universal and Triumphant. She is best known for popularizing the teachings of the Ascended Masters—spiritual beings believed to have moved beyond the cycle of rebirth and now guide humanity from higher realms. Her work combined elements of Theosophy, Christianity, Eastern religions, and the New Age movement.

Elizabeth began her spiritual journey alongside her husband, Mark L. Prophet, who founded The Summit Lighthouse in 1958. After his passing in 1973, she assumed leadership and expanded the organization, later establishing the Church Universal and Triumphant in 1975. Her teachings emphasized personal spiritual growth, the power of the spoken word (decrees and affirmations), karma, reincarnation, and the potential for each soul to become one with the divine.

Known for her charismatic presence and prolific writing, she published numerous books, including The Lost Years of Jesus, Alchemy of the Heart, and Soul Mates and Twin Flames. Prophet’s teachings inspired many followers around the world, though her movement was also met with controversy and scrutiny, particularly in the 1980s and 1990s.

Despite facing health challenges later in life due to Alzheimer’s disease, Elizabeth Clare Prophet left a lasting legacy in the world of metaphysical spirituality and New Age philosophy.
