Sharing the Teachings of the Ascended Masters in India: Part 2

In part 1, we introduced three pillars of sharing the teachings of the ascended masters and we emphasized India during our outreach work. They are: (1) the knowledge of the I AM THAT I AM; (2) the application of the Science of the Spoken Word; and (3) the transmuting qualities of the violet flame. In that article, we also described briefly the first pillar, I AM THAT I AM or OM TAT SAT OM or simply OM. In this installment, we address the second pillar and the approach we take with the students in India.

Second Pillar: The Application of the Science of the Spoken Word

First we agree on a common ground: that the Science of the Spoken Word is the greatest secret of the universe. We acknowledge that the mystics of East and West have connected with the power of creation by repeating spoken mantras and the names of God for millennia and that many of our mantras have Indian origins. Notably, the earliest mantras come from the Hindu scriptures, the Vedas, and were composed in Sanskrit in India. These are at least 3,000 years old. Mantras now exist in various schools of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Similar hymns, chants, compositions and concepts are found in Zoroastrianism, Taoism, Christianity, and elsewhere.

The ancient history of India tells us about the understanding of the inherent power of mantras which have been chanted by rishis, saints and mahatmas for many centuries. Their daily recitations have become a spiritual heritage of the Indian culture. It has become customary to use mantras in every social function—from cradle to grave—from the moment a child is born until he takes leave of the planet.

Introducing Decrees
Hindu Chart of the Real SelfThis ongoing tradition in India of giving of mantras has made it easier for us to introduce decrees there. According to the ascended masters’ teachings, a decree is the most powerful of all applications to the Godhead. It is the command of the son or daughter of God made in the name of the I AM Presence and the Higher-Self for the will of the Almighty to come into manifestation as above, so below. It is the means whereby the kingdom of God becomes a reality here and now through the power of the spoken Word.

When we introduce the term, ‘Decree’ in our outreach, one question people often ask is “How can a person command God who is so mighty, powerful, and giver of all blessings to his children?” Answering this question perhaps could have been much more difficult if we had not developed the five I AM Presence charts that the Summit lighthouse has produced. These charts include Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Christianity and Zoroastrianism (Please refer to the Part 1 post in El Morya’s Garden.) The visual impact of seeing these charts, seems to have a profound effect on people and opens their hearts to understanding the relationship between God and man.

The composite profile of the individualized God-in-Man as depicted in the charts of the I AM THAT I AM through three figures—the upper (Brahman, Paramatman), the middle (Atman, Avatar) and the lower (Soul, Jiva)—is truly a picture that is worth more than many words. As we do explain, it makes it easier for people to understand in their own language and culture why and how the commands given by the sons and daughters of God in the name of the I AM Presence and Higher-Self work.

Mantras Serve as Stepping-Stones to Decrees
We have observed that the mantras play an important role for spiritual seekers when we introduce decrees. In fact, the mantras serve as a stepping stone for them to accept the decrees. Mantras are also like decrees. They are short spoken prayers consisting of a repeated word or group of words. They invoke a particular aspect or quality of the Divinity, intensifying the action of God’s Spirit in man.

On the other hand, decrees contain several additional features which are unprecedented and unique. Simply put, the decrees are prayers that are spoken aloud in a dynamic, rhythmic manner. They are carefully-worded formulas, positive statements, that use the name of God, I AM THAT I AM [OM TAT SAT OM]. We explain that unlike the mantras, the decrees can be considered as spiritual letters that are composed of three parts: (1) a greeting, called the “preamble”; (2) the “body” of the decree and; (3) the “closing.” Each of these three pieces have important purposes and are powerful tools for contacting the Godhead and calling the Father/Mother-God’s power into action into our lives and into the difficulties on Earth today.

We share with them in terminology from the Vedas that the science of the spoken word can help lift everyone to a golden-age consciousness at all levels. This concept is well received since Hinduism and other faiths also prophesy a cycle of enlightenment (Golden Age).

In the next issue of the El Morya’s Garden, we will explore how we introduce the third pillar of the transmuting power of the violet flame into the Indian culture. Please stay tuned!
